The Magpies made it three victories on the spin without conceding a goal as Nuneaton were handled expertly at Liberty Way. Showing superior experienced to their hosts, Jamie Vermiglio’s side were never in trouble once Marcus Carver’s late first half strike put the visitors ahead.

The hosts were forced into changing goalkeeper Louis Gray after his opening day red card at Ashton United. Ross Etheridge deputised. Theo Wharton also came in for Dior Angus.

The Magpies brought in Matt Urwin, Stephen Jordan & Louis Almond to replace Cameron Belford, Courtney Meppen-Walter & Josh Wilson.


01′ YELLOW (Chorley): Scott Leather halted Harry Panayiotou’s route to goal. The resulting Courtney Richards’ free-kick sailed just over Matt Urwin’s bar.

42′ CHANCE (Nuneaton): Freestone’s cross from the left dropped to Harry Panayiotou, who couldn’t react quickly enough, and shanked his effort from close range behind for a goal kick.

43′ GOAL (Chorley): Straight up the other end and The Magpies took the lead. Teague’s left-footed centre somehow hit Marcus Carver before reaching the ‘keeper and rolled into the empty net.
