U21 MATCH PREVIEW | Ramsbottom United away

The Development Squad should have been playing Colne this Thursday night, however with Colne resigning from the Galaxy Lancashire League, the game has been removed from the fixture list,

However Ramsbottom United have stepped in and offered to stage an away game, and this will be played this Friday, 27th October.  This will help to ease David Chadwick's concerns about the lack of game time for the young Magpies, expecially as last week's game against Ashton Athletic became the latest list of fixtures to be called off; this time due to a waterlogged pitch.

POSTPONED | Ashton Athletic Game

Our hopes of playing our first away game of the season have been dealt a blow after the pitch at Brocstedes Park failed a 5pm pitch inspection.

Heavy rain in the Ashton-in-Makerfield area has meant that the pitch is waterlogged and the match has had to be called off.

MATCH PREVIEW | Development Squad hungry for first away fixture

After a postponement due to a waterlogged pitch at Ashton Town last Thursday, manager David Chadwick is keen to return to action as soon as possible. ‘The season started back in August and so far we have played an average of one game per month. It’s very frustrating,’ he said.

The young Magpies have won each of their games so far; all of them at the Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium.  However their other three scheduled fixtures – away games at Witton Albion and Ashton Town (twice) have all been postponed.  This sees the Development Squad with a number of fixtures to make up.

With the Development Squad not playing, Lancaster City recorded a 0-5 victory away at AFC Fylde & Ashton Athletic beat RIASA West 6-2 on home turf.  This saw the Magpies slipping from top of the table to third place.

The lads are due to play again this Thursday, 19th October and sees us travel to Ashton Athletic where the senior squad won their FA Cup third qualifying game 0-1 live on the BBC.  Athletic sit one place in the league above Chorley thanks to their win last week with a one point advantage over the Magpies although we have played one game less so far this season.

For travel to Brocstedes Park, the postcode for your SatNav is WN4 0NR.

PREVIEW | Development Squad Goes to Town

After a hattrick of wins at home in the Galaxy Lancashire League West, David Chadwick’s Development Squad are on the road for the first time this season as they travel to bottom club Ashton Town this Thursday.
