Clitheroe 2-2 Chorley (11/07/2017)

Tuesday July 11th
Pre-season Friendly

A last minute equaliser from Josh O’Keefe saved the Magpies in their game against Clitheroe writes Josh Vosper. That was his third pre-season goal and there’s no question the midfielder has upped his game ahead of the new season. Played in front of a healthy crowd, it was a good night for the hosts who produced an impressive performance.

After numerous chances by Wilson and Cottrell the deadlock was broken after 14 minutes. With an inch-perfect cross Walker headed from just inside the box, picking out the top right corner with a delicious strike. It was nearly two shortly after when Josh Wilson was unfortunate to see his dipping shot cleared off the line. The tenacious hosts drew level on 37 minutes though after an expert finish from Ellison who slammed his effort into the bottom of the goal.

The second half was somewhat uneventful although sparked to life in the final quarter of an hour. Chorley didn’t look in trouble until a mistake at the back led to Carroll going through on goal and finish past the onrushing keeper. This brought the Magpies to life as they pressed at up front. Substitute Carver had chances but was constantly getting frustrated with the rest of the team. It wasn’t until added time when the visitors found a way into the box as Gornell provided the perfect ball to O’Keefe who poked home to seal a last minute draw.
