Worcester City 0-1 Chorley 27/08/2016

Saturday August 27th

A Marcus Carver 69th minute strike earned the Magpies another three points as Chorley put Wednesday night’s defeat at Darlington behind them.

Club skipper Andy Teague was missing due to illness, so other than Jack Lynch taking his place on the bench it was the same squad that had played so well in recent games with Will Beesley and Paul Jarvis swapping places in a tactical change to counter Worcester’s attacking pace.

A flat first half performance from the Magpies was followed by a much improved second period and the team returned back up the M6 with another deserved three points and fourth clean sheet in just six games,

Carver’s goal was a superb solo effort running at the home defence down the right before cutting in  a slotting home from a tight angle; a great way to open his scoring account for the season..

Next up for the Magpies is a home game on Bank Holiday Monday when Stalybridge Celtic are the visitors to The Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium

Starting XI: Sam Ashton, Matt Challoner, Will Beesley, Keiran Charnock, Scott Leather, Stephen Jordan, Jake Cottrell, Dale Whitham, Marcus Carver, Sefton Gonzales, Josh O'Keefe

Subs: Paul Jarvis, Adam Blakeman, Jason Walker, Jack Lynch, Waqas Azam
