Chorley rounded off the season with three points, securing a late winner against AFC Telford United as the score finished 2-1 at Victory Park writes Jack Wynne.
Chorley took the lead just after the 20 minute mark, Darren Stephenson slotting the ball into the bottom corner from inside the box.
Telford were back level in the 75th minute, captain Josh Wilson allowed to nod the ball in from two yards out.
With just a minute of normal time remaining, Chorley were awarded a penalty which Stephenson slotted away for his 18th goal of the season, the Chorley striker being fouled by Jack Rea inside the box.
16 minutes played, Paul Jarvis looked to test Telford goalkeeper James Montgomery, dragging a low shot wide of the post from outside the box, following Dale Whitham’s short corner.
The Magpies were in front six minutes later, Mark Ross picking out Stephenson, who guided the ball into the bottom left-hand corner from close range.
Josh Wilson tried to force Chorley goalkeeper Sam Ashton into action but his overhead kick flew straight over the bar after Izak Reid’s cross from the right.
37 minutes played, Lucas Dawson went for goal from the edge of the box, but failed to find the target, pulling his shot wide.
Just after the interval, Kieran Charnock thought he had doubled the Magpies lead, stroking the ball past Montgomery from close range but the flag was up for offside.
Two minutes later and Curtis Tilt thought he had levelled the scores, forcing the ball over the line after Dawson’s free-kick but the flag was up once again for offside.
Stephenson spurned a good chance to double his and Chorley’s tally, firing a low shot straight at Montgomery after receiving the ball from Whitham and rolling his marker inside the box.
71 minutes played, Mark Ross went close to scoring his 1st goal of the season with a spectacular volley from near the half-way line which just narrowly sailed past the post.
With just over a quarter of an hour left, Wilson levelled the scores, nodding the ball in from close range.
Ashton showed great reactions to block Reece Simpson’s deflected shot from the edge of the box sailing into the back of the net with 11 minutes of normal time remaining.
Stephenson picked out Jarvis in the box, who had a great chance inside the box but mishit his shot and the save was a comfortable one in the end for Montgomery.
84 minutes played, Substitute Micah Evans thought he had scored the winner, controlling Will Beesley’s cross with his chest before volleying the ball just the wrong side of the post.
Stephenson scored his second of the afternoon from the penalty spot, sending Montgomery the wrong way, after the Chorley striker had been fouled by Rea.
