Chorley conceded an injury-time goal, handing Gainsborough Trinity a slender 2-1 victory, writes Jack Wynne.
69 minutes played, Anthony Wilson diverted Stephen Brogan’s free-kick past Sam Ashton from inside the box.
The hosts were ahead for just three minutes, Paul Jarvis rifling a left-footed shot inside the box straight into the top corner.
With just a few minutes left on the clock, Substitute Liam Davis headed the ball past Ashton inside the box, after a defensive error from Kieran Charnock.
22 minutes into the match and Jake Cottrell’s powerful shot from outside the box failed to test Jan Budtz, the ball always rising over the bar.
Four minutes later and Simon Russell looked to test Ashton from outside of the box but his low shot was too close to the Magpies keeper.
Around the half-hour mark, Josh Hine spurned a golden opportunity, his right-footed volley on the edge of the box failing to hit the target.
Into the second half, Wilson looked to have a prime shooting opportunity on the edge of the box after being slipped in by Russell but Teague came across and cleared the danger.
55 minutes played, Wilson tried to breach Ashton in the Chorley goal but his driven shot on the edge of the box was too central.
A minute later and Gainsborough had a free kick which Brogan sent into the box, but Wilson’s header flashed wide of the target.
Teague had a chance to break the deadlock, his looping header from inside the box lacking the power to trouble Budtz.
70 minutes gone and Wilson put the hosts in front, latching onto Brogan’s free-kick from the right and heading the ball beyond Ashton from close range.
The Magpies were level four minutes later, Jarvis striking an arrowing shot with his left foot straight into the top right-hand corner.
Teague latched onto Jarvis’ cross before seeing his header rattle the underside of the bar and bounce agonizingly on the line.
Six minutes before the end of normal time, Stephenson’s snap shot from inside the box sailed past the post.
Into injury time, substitute Andy Bond took the ball of Hine before hitting a wayward shot from outside of the box which was always rising.
At the other end, Charnock failed to deal with a loose ball and Davis was only too happy to capitalize, heading the ball past Ashton.
