Saturday February 27th, 3pm

Chorley secured back-to-back league victories, winning 2-0 against Lowestoft Town at Victory Park writes Jack Wynne.

Adam Roscoe broke the deadlock in the 27th minute, diverting Dale Whitham’s corner past Ben Killip from inside the box.

Into injury time and Darren Stephenson wrapped up all three points, knocking the ball past Killip and into the back of the net after a low pass from Jordan Connerton.

Jake Reed spurned an early chance to put the Trawler Boys in front, heading the ball over the bar from inside the box following a cross from Ryan Jarvis on the left.

Darren Stephenson forced a fine save from Ben Killip, hitting a powerful shot on the half-volley after racing clear of the Lowestoft defence.

Roscoe headed the Magpies in front a minute later, losing his marker before directing Dale Whitham’s corner-kick beyond Killip and into the back of the net.

Andy Teague almost made it two goals from two corners, his header rattling against the bar after another Whitham corner.

35 minutes played, Stephenson spurned a glorious chance to widen the margin between the two teams, arrowing a shot wide from inside the box after Roscoe’s headed pass.

At the other end, Michael Spillane looked to force a save from Sam Ashton but his shot from inside the box ended up in the side-netting.

Into the second half, Shaun Bammant’s looping header from inside the box lacked any power leaving Ashton to gather the ball with ease.

55 minutes played, Bammant had another chance to pull Town level, poking the ball straight at Ashton from inside the box.

Connerton looked almost certain to add his name to the scoresheet, but failed to sort his feet out inside the six-yard box after some good build-up between him and Stephenson.

Four minutes later, Connerton glanced Roscoe’s early cross straight over the bar from inside the box.

Whitham tried to put further distance between the two sides, his low free-kick from outside the box straight at Killip.

Substiute Danny Crow looked to have gone close to finding an equalizer, after his effort inside the box struck the right-hand post but the linesman’s flag was up for offside.

Into injury time and Stephenson doubled the Magpies’ tally for the afternoon, tapping the ball past Killip inside the six-yard box after a square pass from Connerton.
