Chorley recorded an emphatic 5-1 victory against Euxton Villa at the Jim Fowler Memorial Playing Fields writes Jack Wynne.
Aaron Burns broke the deadlock after a quarter of an hour when his shot from six yards deflected off the Villa defender and past the opposition keeper.
The hosts found themselves 2-0 behind after half an hour played when Chris Almond was bundled down in the box, before Josh Hine fired home the penalty kick.
Summer signing Kieran Charnock added a third in the 41st minute, meeting Dale Whitham’s corner kick before sending his header looping across goal and beyond the Euxton keeper.
51 minutes played and the opposition keeper was helpless when Adam Roscoe hit a thunderous strike into the top corner from the edge of the box.
Villa grabbed a late consolation when number 9 lost his marker before finally putting the ball past Sam Ashton from six yards in the 81st minute.
Jack Lynch rounded off the scoring in some style, darting into the box before pulling the ball back and guiding his shot into the bottom corner in the 86th minute.
Whitham who was deputising at right-back, covering for the unavailable Mark Ross, failed to test the Euxton keeper in the 15th minute when his 20-yard shot flew over the bar.
Moments later and Burns opened the scoring for Chorley, guiding the ball home from six yards, albeit with the help of a deflection off a Villa defender.
Two minutes later and Burns failed to double his tally when he got on the end of Whitham’s cross before heading the ball straight at the Euxton keeper.
At the other end, and Villa looked like they might create an opening after launching a dangerous free kick into the box but Charnock was there to smother the danger.
24 minutes played and Euxton’s number 8 failed to test Ashton, rifling a shot over the bar from 20 yards.
Shortly after, number 3 sent a free kick into the box but number 9 failed to take advantage, powering a header over the bar.
A few minutes later and Chorley doubled their advantage, Hine stepping up to score the penalty kick after Almond had been brought down in the area.
As half-time approached, Charnock put some distance between the two sides guiding his header across goal and past the Euxton keeper.
Into the second half and Burns’ shot from just inside the box didn’t cause the Villa keeper any problems as the ball flew over.
Roscoe netted a fourth for Chorley with 51 minutes played, arrowing a shot from the edge of the box well out of the keeper’s reach and into the top corner.
On the hour and Euxton’s number 10 drove past Andy Teague before forcing a good save from Ashton, shooting from just outside the box.
63 minutes played and substitute Harry Winter failed to extend the visitor’s lead, curling his 20-yard shot over the bar.
Teague had a great chance to extend the Magpies’ lead when he lost his marker but couldn’t generate enough power in the header to trouble the Villa keeper.
With just under ten minutes left, Villa’s number 9 ruined Chorley’s chances of a clean sheet, finding some space before guiding the ball past Ashton from six yards.
86 minutes played and Lynch added a fifth for the away side, surging into the box before dragging the ball back and placing his shot into the bottom corner.
