Chorley exited the Doodson Sport Cup with a youthful side that was no match for an experience Witton Albion.
Ex-Magpies Ally Brown and Chris Simm netted a goal apiece for Albion with Josh Hancock grabbing a brace, Darren Stephenson scoring for the Magpies to make it three one.
With eight of the starting line-up having amassing just 16 starts between them this season, including a debut for Cameron Harris and first appearance of the season for Luke McKenna, you knew that the focus was firmly on Saturday’s FA Trophy tie with Tamworth.
However, credit must be given to Witton Albion, who turned up at the Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium and did a professional job on their inexperience hosts to book their place in the next round when they’ll entertain Skelmersdale United in two weeks time.
