Rushall Olympic 0-0 Chorley - 13/10/2012

Saturday October 13th, 3pm

A DRAW was the right result as Chorley matched their Olympic hosts on a damp Non-League Day.

However the main talking point of the game was Rushall striker Ahmed Obeng.

Following a challenge in the centre of the field the number 10 walked to the sideline before collapsing on the edge of the pitch.  Both home physio Emma Archer our own Bev Webster treated the player until paramedics arrived.  Thankfully he was release a few hours later following treatment to a broken rib and punctured lung.

Back to the action and in a closely contested 90+ minutes clear cut chances were few with both sides’ defences controlling their areas.  The best chance of the game fell to the hosts in the 53rd minute when Jack Cudworth tipping a shot onto the crossbar, while Chorley’s best effort was a stab at goal from Ciaran Kilheeney which went narrowly wide.

Big pluses from the game, alongside the clean sheet, were both Jamie Vermiglio and Matt Jansen completing the full 90 minutes.  However Mark Ross and Simon Garner took knocks which may leave them struggling for fitness for Tuesday’s Lancashire Derby with AFC Fylde, while John Cunliffe watched from the side-lines despite being named as a substitute after picking up a slight groin strain in the pre-match warm-up.  Due to the departures in midweek adding to the ever increasing injury list Garry could only name four substitutes for the match..

Chorley XI: Jack Cudworth, Ashley Parillon, Andy Russell, Mark Ross, Andy Teague, Dale Whitham, Chris Denham, Jamie Vermiglio, Ciaran Kilheeney, Matt Jansen, Simon Garner

Subs: Steve Flitcroft (Denham, 70), Adam Roscoe (Garner, 57), Ahmadi Proya (Kilheeney, 60)

Att:355 Man of the Match: Mark Ross, solid throughout
