Chorley 2-1 Eastwood Town - 04/05/2013

Saturday May 4th, 3pm

Chorley ended the 2012/13 campaign with a two-one victory over already relegated Eastwood Town thanks to goals from Tom Ince leading scorer for the season Darren Stephenson in front of the second highest gate of the season.

It took just three minutes to break down the visitors; Ahmadi Porya was fouled in the box and Ince converted the resulting spot kick.

However the expected goals deluge didn’t materialise as Eastwood defended in numbers and denied the Magpies any space to play in.

Porya should have extended the lead on 35 minutes, but the ball flew over the bar after he attempted to ‘thigh-in’ a cross from 2 yards.

Almost immediately after this chance Eastwood levelled the score.  Jack Cudworth made a smart save from close range but could stop the follow up as Bradley Munn netted the rebound.

After the break Chorley pressed forward but Eastwood stood firm, even riding their luck when Chorley were awarded a second penalty on 58 minutes as Adam Roscoe fired over the bar and clearing off the line shortly after this.

However the win was assured seven minutes from time when Stephenson turned in from close range a knock down from Roscoe off an Ince cross for his thirteenth goal in twenty-nine appearance for the Magpies this season.

With five minutes to go young Luke McKenna replaced Jamie Vermiglio to become the first of the DACA apprentices to step up to the first team; hopefully the first of many.
