A SHOCKING final half hour performance undid the good work in the first sixty minutes as Chorley lost a 1-4 and had two players red carded.

The first 45 minutes was probably as good as Chorley had played all season; all that was lacking was the killer instinct in front of goal.

New loan signings from Oldham Athletic, Dave Mellor and Kirk Millar, showed what they have to offer especially Millar who was a constant threat from the flanks.

The Magpies goal game following a Proya Ahmadi overhead attempt being handled in the six-yard box; Ciaran Kilheeney tucked home the spot kick.

Jack Cudworth tipped over the visitor’s best effort of the opening period from Fleetwood Town loanee Richie Allen.

The second half started in the same vein as the first with Chorley on top.  Ahmadi riffled a shot across the face of the goal in the opening minute then ten minutes later a penalty shout for a clear handball was ignored by the officials.

Then on the hour mark the game turned.  Fylde were awarded a free-kick that look more than a little suspect, and from the resulting set play ex-Magpie Adam Farrell levelled the score.

Six minutes later Fylde were in front when another ex-Magpie Jack Dorney created space on the edge of the area and shot into the corner.

Farrell added a third ten minutes from time, sliding the ball into the far corner.

Chorley’s demise upped a gear when in the space of two minutes Andy Teague and Chris Denham were dismissed.

Teagues dismissal was for a second yellow card, a harsh decision given the number of fouls committed by both sides didn’t represent the number of cards handed out as the home side were often found themselves receiving sterner treatment from the officials than the visitors.

Denhams straight red cannot be argued against and he througly deserved his early bath.

Having the play the final five minutes (plus six additional minutes) with just nine men Fylde perhaps should have added more than the fourth, with which Adam Farrell completed his hat-trick.
