Warrington Town 2-0 Chorley 21/11/2009

Saturday November 21st, 3pm

A poor performance in poor conditions is about the only way to sum up yet another poor showing for the Magpies in Warrington.

With the signings of Stuart Howson and Alex Porter, the departure of Adam Kozlowski and absence due to suspensions or injuries to Chris Amadi, Reece Kelly, Jamie Vermiglio and Josh Kenworthy, the Chorley starting eleven had a somewhat uneven look too it with four centre-back and no natural central midfielders.  Wayne Maden and Lee Shillito, about to play his first 90 minutes for Chorley in about 2 years due to injuries, became the unlikely parring in centre of the park.

With the pitch looking uneven and heavy, it was never going to be a classic encounter and flowing football was at a premium.  Chorley had a couple of chances in the opening minutes, but Warrington had the better of the opportunities to score, but found Zac Hibbert in good form.

Wayne Maden made way for Matty Barrett due to injury ten minutes from half time, but this change didn't hinder or help the Magpies as we were as disjointed without our captain as we were with him on the pitch!

Following the restart, the rain started to come down in buckets and the local university students, three drums drumming much to the annoyance of the home keeper provided most of the entertainment for the visiting supporters.

Terry Fearns did have the ball in the goal with our only shot of the game, but it was already two-nil and was dissalowed for offside anyway!

Subs: Danny Nolan (Mason), Francis Foy, Mike Garside, Matty Barrett (Maden), Tom Farrell

Att: 166
