Chorley 1-1 Harrogate Railway Athletic 19/09/2009

Saturday September 19th, 3pm

Chorley grabbed a draw with a goal two minutes into stoppage time, but the feeling was this it was still two points dropped rather than one gained.

With the visitors in the middle of an injury crisis, Harrogate were there for the taking and despite plenty of pressure on the visitors goal it was down to Terry Fearns to grab what appeared to be an unlikely point, saving the blushed of Zac Hibbert and Wayne Maden in the process.

Even through Fearns and Chris Amadi kept the visitors defence on their toes, Chorley failed to created many openings early on, but as time ticked by, Chorley's control of the game grew stronger and a win more likely until the embarrassing  misunderstanding that handed Ben Jones the probably easiest finished of his career.

With the ball heading toward goal Maden started to escort it toward the area.  At the same time Hibbert sprinted toward the ball to clear it.  Then the inevitable happened and they both ended up on their backsides as Jones nipped through, rounded the stranded pair, and jogged toward the gaping Duke Street end goal!

This fired up Chorley.  Manager Steve Waywell added Danny Nolan, Josh Kenworthy and Chris Mason to the action anf threw the proverbial kitchen sink at the Athletic goal in search of an equaliser.  The in injury time up stepped Fearns, who missed to difficult chances earlier on, to slot home under the keeper from ten yards, following an exquisite pass by Kenworthy
