Curzon Ashton 5-0 Chorley 14/09/2009

Monday September 14th, 7.45pm

The Magpies suffered a humbling defeat against one of the sides sure to be challenging for the top honour this season.

Chorley are of course in the midst of a rebuilding exercise, having seen all but five of last seasons squad depart for pastures new.  Curzon meanwhile have had the continuity of the same manager in post, Gary Lowe, since June 2000 and the finances boosted by last seasons run to the 2nd Round proper of the FA Cup.  It was always going to be a difficult encounter at best!

Early in the game Terry Fearns missed target, and this was to be as good as it got, with the home side two up before 8pm!

The second half saw three goals in twelve minutes wrap the points up for the Tameside club.
