Chorley 1-0 Radcliffe Borough 27/03/2010

Saturday March 27th, 3pm

A Danny Nolan strike after just five minutes was enought to ensure back to back Victory Park wins and move the Magpies back up to tenth in the league table.

It wasn't a happy return to Chorley for ex-Magpies Dave Murgatroyd, Kevin Glendon, Gerry Luczka, James Mullineux, Adam Roscoe or Eddie Stanford, as despite Borough's best efforts in attack, Zac Hibbert and the home defence stood resolute.

The only goal of the game arrived early on when a Stuart Howson long ball was inadvertently flicked into Danny Nolan's path by Borough captain Simon Kelly.  Danny the advanced toward the keeper and drove the ball into the far corner giving the custodian no chance.

Both sides had chances to score in the remaining 85 minutes.  Borough's Ben Wharton alone had three good chances, but Hibbert was on top form throughout.  Chris Amadi headed narrowly wide from an Alex Porter cross, Porter himself put one cross in that hit the bar and Chris Smalley would have flicked the ball inside the near post if it hadn't been for Lloyd Rigby in the Borough net.

Chorley could and perhaps should have scored when three times the ball failed to cross the line during a goal mouth scramble in the second half and in injury time Borough managed to hit the post.

The win sets the team up nicely for the Easter fixtures against Halifax and local rivals Bamber Bridge with us having lost just once in the last six outings.
