Beer festival set to go with a bang

A fireworks extravaganza will form part of the inaugural 'Thirsty Magpie Beer Festival', which is set to take place at the Victory Park Social Club next week.

Organisers have confirmed that one of the highlights of the four-day festival will be a spectacular firework display on Saturday July 14.

The event, which is being jointly organised by The Magpies and The Spinners Arms at Cowling, will run from Thursday July 12 to Sunday July 15 and feature more than 80 real ales and ciders.

A number of live bands have also been lined up to provide entertainment over the course of the four days.

There will also be a bouncy castle, a children's penalty shoot-out competition, a supporters exhibition match between AFC Chorley and Runcorn Linnets, and a hog roast and barbecue on the Sunday (Jul 15).

Magpies boss Garry Flitcroft said: "The beer festival promises to be a great event. We've got some top local bands lined up, a firework display, and of course over 80 real ales and ciders."

Tickets for each night cost £5, which includes a commemorative glass, and can be bought in advance from the football club or The Spinners.

Alternatively you can pay on the door.

If you would like to sponsor a barrel at the event, which would include tickets to an exclusive sponsors night on the Thursday evening, please call Glen on 07799 091918
