Stretched Magpies earn a point at Rushall

AN already wafer thin Magpies squad was stretched even more in today’s nil-all draw at Dales Lane.

With only 15 players available to travel, John Cunliffe was withdrawn before a ball was kicked after picking up a groin strain in the pre-match warm up, meaning the Magpies only had three players on the bench.  Add to this knocks taken during the match by Mark Ross and Simon Garner, the team Garry picks for Tuesday night’s Lancashire derby against AFC Fylde will be from a very limited squad.

However, despite our own injury crisis it looked like things might have been very much worse for Rushall striker Ahmed Obeng, who collapsed early in the second half meaning the game was delayed for some 20 minutes while both club physio's treated the player.  Thankfully he was later released from hospital having sustained a broken rib and punctured lung just before collapsing.
