LOAN signing, striker Darren Stephenson, is to remain at Victory Park for a second month after an agreement was reached with his parent club, Blue Square Premier side Southport.

However the agreement does not allow him play in the FA Trophy, but fellow loanee from Port Louis Barnes have been given permission to play in Saturday's tie against Whitby Town.

John Blackburn's funeral arrangements

From John's son, Chris:

"Can I start by thanking everyone for their lovely and kind words on the Magpies In Space forum, in emails and on twitter in the last few days. Mum and I have read them all and they have led to a lot of smiles and happy memories.

"Just to confirm Dad's funeral will take place at Brownedge St Marys in Bamber Bridge with a Requiem Mass at 9.10am on Tuesday 2nd October (apologies for the promximity to Irongate!).

"We will then move on to Charnock Richard Crematorium for the cremation at 11am. Refreshments and a buffet will be available at Charnock Richard Golf Club afterwards.

"We have asked for family flowers only and all donations to be sent to HG Wilde Funeral Directors in Bamber Bridge. These will be split between Myeloma UK and the Rosemere Cancer Unit at Preston.

"Everyone is more than welcome to come to some or all of the funeral and hope you can attend.

"I will be at the game on Saturday and know Dad would appreciate the minute's silence. He was never a big fan of the new trend for a minute's applause!

"As an aside, my Mum and I have already been discussing what we would like to do for the club on behalf of Dad in the future as it was such a big part of his life. We will meet with the Club at a later date to be arranged."

Two Magpies make final flight

It is with the deepest sadness that we have to announce the passing of two loyal and lifelong Chorley supporters in the past week.

Last week Frank Powell sadly passed away and a minutes silence we held in his memory before yesterday’s FA Cup game against Frickley Athletic.

Then just a matter of hours after this game was completed, John Blackburn also passed away.

Both supporters had suffered from ill health in recent years and both with be greatly missed by everyone at Victory Park.

The funeral arrangements for John will be announced in due course, while Franks service takes place tomorrow (Monday September 24th) at 1pm at St Pauls Church, Adlington then 2pm at Charnock Richard Crematorium. This will be followed by drinks at Chorley Football Club.
