Ten-man Magpies toil to victory

CHORLEY recorded an excellent 1-0 win over Ilkeston FC after having to play the final half and hour of the match with just ten-men.

Tom Walker, who missed the majority of last season through injury had to be stretched off the pitch after Garry Flitcroft had made the last of his three permitted changes.

New signings, keeper Jack Cudworh and striker Darren Stephenson, both impressed and it was Stephenson who netted the only goal of the game on 48 minutes.

However not only did the team hang on to what they had, they continued to push forward and it was difficult to tell which team had a man less.
