MATCH PREVIEW | Southport v Chorley

Chorley (8th, 34pts) make the short trip to the seaside on New Year’s Day for the return leg of their festive double-header against Southport (21st, 23pts) at Haig Avenue, writes Alex Birch

The Magpies will be hoping for better luck this time around against the struggling Sandgrounders after drawing a blank on Boxing Day, a game that could easily have gone the home side’s way.

“If we’re clinical in the final third we win the game. We’ll be full of confidence going to their place on New Year’s Day” - Matt Jansen talking to Harry Lyons

Team news

Stephen Jordan could return after being rested, but Josh Wilson sits out the final game of his three-match ban. Sam Ashton continues his rehab from long-term injury on loan at Evo-Stik Division One North side Kendal Town. Midfielder Ian Black has left the club.
