Off the back of one of their best performances of the season on Saturday at Salford the Magpies return to The Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium on Boxing Day to face struggling Southport (20th, 22pts), writes Alex Birch

The first of back-to-back games between the sides over the festive period, Matt Jansen’s men will be looking for maximum points, with a chance of heading into 2018 in the playoff places.

The visitors, on the other hand, will be looking towards the opposite end of table as they seek a first win in any competition since the start of September.
