PREVIEW | Salford City v Chorley

The Magpies return to Vanarama National League North action this weekend with a short trip down the M61 to face league leaders Salford City (1st, 50pts) at Moor Lane, writes Alex Birch.

Matt Jansen’s side are looking to bounce back from last Saturday’s disappointing FA Trophy exit at the hands of Marine, but face a tough assignment against the professional Ammies who’ve lost just twice in 20 league games.

Victory over their Greater Manchester rivals could propel Chorley back into the playoff places, but whatever happens on Saturday the hosts are guaranteed top spot for Christmas.

“I’m excited about this weekend. I’ve no doubt we’ll turn up at Salford on Saturday, give it everything, and cause them problems” – Matt Jansen speaking to Harry Lyons

“We go again next Saturday and put it right” – Nick Haughton on Twitter

Team news

Jason Walker is a doubt after limping off in the second half of Saturday’s cup defeat. Josh Wilson starts a three-game ban following his straight red card during the same match. New loan signing Dan Mooney could make his debut.

Streaking: The Magpies have lost just one of their last eight National League North games.

Machine: The Ammies have won 11 of their last 12 league matches, and conceded only one goal in their last five.

Rusty: Joint managers Bernard Morley & Anthony Johnson haven’t picked a Salford side for three weeks due to the double postponement of their fixture with Darlington.
