PREVIEW | North Ferriby United

Chorley head to Yorkshire on Saturday afternoon to take on the National League North’s bottom side, North Ferriby United writes Harry Lyons. Having been relegated from the National League last season, the Villagers will be disheartened at their start to the 2017-18 season, with just one victory under the belt to date, a 1-0 away win at Blyth Spartans.

In truth, Steve Housham’s side have looked dismal so far this season, scoring only three goals in their opening nine matches and losing 5-0 at home to Brackley last month. Their last match, a 2-1 away defeat at Boston United, has seen them claim just five points so far this season. Things are looking increasingly positive for Matt Jansen’s Magpies however, coming into this match on the back of two very impressive home matches.

Despite a shaky start to the season, a 2-0 home win over full time York City on Saturday was followed up by an incredible 4-1 home win over Darlington on Tuesday night, a performance which Jansen called “the best he’s seen at Victory Park since he’s been manager.” New loan singing, Nick Haughton, has received praise for his superb performances in his first two matches for the Magpies since his move from Fleetwood Town, which was capped off with a well-deserved goal against Darlington.

Confidence will be high going into the match and the Magpies will be hoping to take advantage of North Ferriby’s poor home form so far this season and make it three wins on the spin.
