PREVIEW | Curzon Ashton

The Magpies are back in action again this weekend as they take on Curzon Ashton at the Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The players were mightily disappointed to lose to promotion rivals Salford City on Tuesday night by a solitary Michael Nottingham goal during the first half.  But now comes a great opportunity to take that disappointment out on another Greater Manchester rival in Curzon Ashton.

The Nash, managed by John Flanagan, sit in seventh in the National League North table, level on points with 13th placed Chorley, but have a slightly better goal difference thanks to a memorable opening day victory over North Ferriby United by four goals to nil.

Like Chorley though, they lost on Tuesday night to Stockport County (0-3) so will be coming to take their revenge out on the Magpies.

Matt Jansen felt that his side were the better team on Tuesday night and said ahead of this game: “The message is to just go again.  It’s a long season and we’ve suffered a blip.  A great result against Kidderminster was followed by a disappointing result but we go again on Saturday.

“We’ll come up against a strong Curzon side, who have had a good start themselves, and who have maybe been our bogey team over the last three or four years.  But we’ll go into this game full of confidence.

“The way we’re playing at the moment shows we’re a strong side and if we apply ourselves we can beat anybody.”

Make sure you get down to Victory Park nice and early ahead of the 3pm kick off.
