Leather Arrives As Ross And Dean Depart

Defender Scott Leather became the latest addition to the Victory Park squad when his arrival from Altrincham was announced earlier today.

He will join fellow new signing Adam Blakeman, Matt Challoner and Sefton Gonzalez at training when the players return for pre-season in June.

All the players from last season’s squad have been invited back for the new season.

So far only Mark Ross and James Dean had informed the club that they will not be returning.  Ross has agreed to join Stockport County while Dean looks likely to drop into the Evo-Stik Premier Division.

Mark joined the club in the summer of 2010 from Leigh Genesis and made 252 appearances for the club, netting three times while James, who had a brief 1 match spell at the club in 2004 returned in 2013 from AFC Fylde and netted 53 goals in 134 games.

The club would like to wish both players all the very best for the future with of course the exception of when they are in direct opposition to ourselves!

Back to today’s new signing, Scott (left) started his career in Crewe Alexandra’s renown youth system before switching to Preston North End at the age of 17.

He spent three seasons at Deepdale making two league appearances as well as playing many times at Victory Park in their academy side.

In the summer of 2012 he joined Altrincham in the Conference North and played a key role in the side that won promotion to the Vanarama National League via the play-offs.

In total he has played 179 times for Altrincham, scoring 7 goals and picked up the clubs Young Player of the Year award for his performances last season.

Able to play in either central defence or at right back, he turned down the chance to re-sign for the Moss Lane club following their relegation last season, instead option for a new challenge with Chorley.
