LATEST NEWS | Chorley FC set for FA People's Cup debut

The increasingly popular FA People’s Cup gets back underway this weekend, and Chorley will have a representative in the first round!

 

‘Chorley FC Walking Football,’ consists of players of all ages and abilities who have taken part in the weekly Community Trust walking football sessions. The side are set to play their first round match at Play Football Bury on Saturday 24th February, between 2pm-5pm with a place in the national stages of the tournament is up for grabs.

 

This year’s edition of the FA People’s Cup see’s over 45,000 players take part up and down the country at 200 different venues at the first round stage.

 

The finals will take place in April at the home of the Football Association, St George’s Park.

Magpie In The Spotlight ...

GOALKEEPER

Signed from Skelmersdale United in the summer of 2013, weeks after lifting the First Division North side with the West Lancashire club the repeated that success 12 months later with the Magpies.

He started out at Bolton Wanderers, making a single appearing for the Trotters first team coming on as surprisingly as a striker for Mexican Jared Borgetti in an FA Cup tie against Watford!

On leaving the Reebok he joined FC United and become something of a cult hero at the Red Rebel during his time at Gigg Lane.

At Chorley he has become famous for is penalty shoot-our heroics against Forest Green Rovers in the FA Trophy and Boston United on the Conference North play-off semi-final – “You’ll Never Beat Sam Ashton” rings around Victory Park whenever the opposition are about to take a spot-kick.
