COMMUNITY | January Soccer School

Over ever-popular Soccer School took place recently with 70 children in attendance. Catering for boys and girls aged 5 to 12 years old, our holiday based courses are highly popular for children of all abilities.

Giving participants the chance to learn the fundamentals of the beautiful game, with professional coaches. Chorley FC provide a safe environment for children to learn new skills, improve technique whilst having lots of fun at the same time. We also offer specific goalkeeper sessions which take place at Southlands High School.

During the week the children made a special visit to Goodison Park, home of Everton FC. Orgainser David Murgatroyd said: “It was a fantastic occasion for all the children and coaches. We was looked after exceptionally well and I’d like to thank everyone at the club plus former director Andy Neild. Our lunch took place in the Brian Labone Lounge which was then followed by a trip round the megastore before finally meeting legend Ian Snowden. He was a wonderful man, who gave us a tour around the stadium before a question and answer session in the media room, which was enjoyed by everyone.”

He added: “It was a great trip and one the children will remember for a long time. Our Soccer Schools not only give our youngsters the chance to take part in physical activities during the school holidays, but help practice their football skills. It also gives them the opportunity to socialise with friends, and even interact and work together with new people from different schools or football teams.”

Don’t forget our next sessions take place during the start of January 2018. To book David on: 07804 145055 or email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Magpie In The Spotlight ...

CENTRAL DEFENDER

A proper leader on the pitch, Andy has played a massive role in helping Chorley rise from Evo-Stik Division One North to becoming challengers in the National League North.

A six foot plus, strong centre half, he joined the Magpies in January 2011 for a nominal fee and was soon afterward appointed club captain.

He started his career in the football league with Macclesfield Town but suffered a badly broken leg in a game against Stockport County.  Despite trying to rebuild his profession career he went on loan spells at Tamworth and Hyde United and Tamworth before joining Leigh Genesis then Lancaster.

Off the pitch he is a huge character around the club and is famed for his facial hair!
